It is so good to be able to come to you again to let you know what has been accomplished so far this year. It is with your help that we have been able to be God’s hands extended to our neighbors in need. I am most grateful that you have heard the cry of the needy in our own communities, and answered God’s call.
The disaster truly has been painful for so many. Look Up Child was called upon to help with hotel stays until housing was found for the newly homeless families and children. Thanks to your support, we were able to work with the Department of Children Services and local agencies to keep 32 children in hotels with the parents and not removed to foster homes. We have loved working with our DCS workers to keep children and parents together. The cost for the disaster relief was $5,200.00.
Christmas is quickly approaching, and I again ask for your help to meet the needs of the children and families that we are actively serving. Just getting food to feed their families is a nightmare.
Another, serious issue is the cost of rent has gone totally out of range of most low-income people and they cannot afford to pay. Many are facing eviction, and need our help.
I am so very grateful to each of you for your prayers and financial help. I now ask you to pray, and consider a gift to help provide Christmas gifts, and food for our families. We have 80 children, 40 have been adopted, and that leaves another 40 that need sponsors. The total need for Christmas is $3,200.00.
Our benevolence is depleted at the present, due to the disaster, and we need your help to continue to help with rent, rent and utility deposits, food, hotel stays, and clothes. We are in need of donations of children’s warm clothes, gift cards, and shoes at the present. I am so excited to praise God that a donor provided for the Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets!! God is so very good. Thank you for hearing, praying, and answering the call to serve those that need our help so much.
In Christ’s Service,
Rev. Sarah C. Wells
Who is Look Up Child 2 Hope?
We are a non-profit, 501 © 3, Christian ministry, that serves low-income and homeless families with children, teens, and children in need of Christian counseling. Our services are at no charge to families who desire to have Christian counseling.
*This year we have started a second arm ministry to assist the low-income elderly. This is our Senior Snuggles Program.
Where Do Our Referrals Come From?
We receive our referrals from the Department of Children’s Services, Churches, hospice agencies, local community agencies, and parents seeking help.
Who are the Staff?
We are blessed with volunteers that are retired social workers, teachers, and ministers. *There are no salaries for anyone, we are all volunteers.
How are we funded?
We receive donations from individuals, churches, business, and through fundraising.
What are our expenses?
We pay only $350.00 per month for our physical office located in the Colonial Center in Johnson City, TN. That is a total of $4,200.00, per year.
Where does the balance of the donations go?
Everything else that is donated goes to care for the families, and children’s need of rent, rent deposits, utilities, hotel lodging, food, clothes, and school supplies. We do have two special programs that provide Resurrection Baskets for Easter with each child receiving a Bible in their basket, and the Back 2 School Program that provides school supplies, backpacks, clothing, and shoes.
